
“AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation” is this year’s theme for the annual January 24th celebration of the Day.
The Vice Chancellor added in a statement released over the weekend by Mr. Kunle Akogun, the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, that the topic was a perfect fit with the university’s enormous advancements in artificial intelligence.
“Our commitment is to equip our students with the knowledge and skills needed to harness the potentials of AI for societal progress,” Prof. Egbewole stated, acknowledging the crucial role education plays in training future leaders to navigate the changing terrain.
The university recently trained 21 of its UNILORIN teaches 21 AI students and intends to fund 500 more.in artificial intelligence, and it intends to fund 500 more in the near future, the vice chancellor revealed. The goal of the trainings, according to Prof. Egbewole, was to motivate the recipients to develop the necessary abilities in the investigation and application of artificial intelligence for future innovations and professional advancement. The University of Ilorin has been at the vanguard of advancing quality in education and community development, according to the vice chancellor.
He claims that the university currently follows a SMART Agenda, which places a strong emphasis on using technology to improve research, teaching, and learning. We have made tremendous progress in the field of artificial intelligence, he continued, and we have made large investments in digital infrastructure, such as a cutting-edge data centre and a strong network that facilitates online education.
The University’s AI efforts are now being coordinated by the Centre for Cybersecurity and COMSIT, with plans to build a Centre for Artificial Intelligence already in advanced stages.
